Founder - Judie Byrd
Judie Byrd began cooking classes in her home kitchen in 1984. After 17 years she moved the school to the present location. At this time her husband, businessman and entrepreneur Bill Byrd, came into the business and developed The School into what it is today, a licensed and accredited culinary school. Judie is the host of Judie Byrd’s Kitchen, seen daily on both FamilyNet and ALN Cable TV and is a frequent guest on local and National radio and television programs.
She is the author of six books, including A Mother’s Manual for Holiday Survival, How to Make Any Occasion Special, Help! My Family’s Hungry, Super Suppers, and Everyday Family Recipes (Meredith, 2011). She is food editor of Fort Worth Magazine and food writer for HomeLife Magazine and has been featured in other publications, such as People Magazine, Reader’s Digest, Family Circle, Women’s Day, Working Mother, Entrepreneur Magazine.
A member of the International Association of Culinary Professionals, Judie studied cooking at the CIA in Hyde Park, NY and Le Cordon Bleu School of Cookery in London, as well as in France, Belgium and Italy. She spent a year traveling in Korea, Japan and Thailand where she studied cooking techniques of the Orient.
Married 45 years, Judie and Bill have 3 grown children and 5 grandchildren, all of whom eat dinner at their house every Sunday.
