Inside the Kitchen: Our Students’ First Friends & Family Dessert Showcase

Their First Friends & Family Event

Some of the proudest moments in our students’ journey don’t happen during a lecture or a knife-skills drill — they happen when students get to show the people they love what they can do.

This May, two of our cohorts hosted their very first Friends & Family event: a dessert showcase they planned and executed entirely as a class. From building the menu to prepping, plating, and serving, the students ran the whole evening themselves — the kind of end-to-end ownership that turns culinary students into culinary professionals.

The Friends & Family event is a milestone built into student life at CSFTW. It’s the moment students invite the people who matter most into the kitchen to taste the skills they’ve been developing since day one. For many, it’s the first time their family and friends see their work plated and presented at a professional standard.

Watching a cohort pull off their first event together is a reminder of how much can happen in just a few months of focused, hands-on training — and how much pride comes with it.
