Position Summary
Crave It Nutrition is seeking a dependable and experienced Head Cook to join our school food service team. The Head Cook will be responsible for leading the daily preparation and cooking of meals for the school’s lunch program, serving approximately 200–300 meals per day.
This position works closely with the Site Manager, who oversees the overall operation. While the Site Manager manages the location, the Head Cook serves as the lead culinary team member and is responsible for ensuring food is prepared correctly, on time, and according to Crave It Nutrition’s recipes and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the daily preparation and cooking of food for the school’s lunch service.
Prepare approximately 200–300 meals per day according to established recipes, menus, and portion requirements.
Ensure all food is prepared safely, consistently, and on schedule.
Serve as the lead cook and provide direction and support to other kitchen staff as needed.
Work closely with the Site Manager to ensure a smooth and successful daily lunch service.
Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health department requirements.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen and food preparation area.
Properly store, label, rotate, and handle food products.
Assist with inventory, food receiving, and other kitchen duties as needed.
Communicate any food, equipment, staffing, or supply concerns promptly to the Site Manager.
Help maintain Crave It Nutrition’s standards for food quality, presentation, and customer service.
Maintain a professional appearance at all times, including appropriately covering visible tattoos and removing or concealing visible piercings while on duty.
Qualifications & Requirements
Previous experience as a Cook, Lead Cook, Line Cook, Prep Cook, or similar food service position.
Experience preparing food in a high-volume kitchen preferred.
Ability to independently manage food preparation for 200–300 meals per day.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Dependable, punctual, and reliable.
Ability to follow recipes, menus, production schedules, and food safety procedures.
Must work well as part of a team and communicate effectively with the Site Manager and other staff.
Reliable transportation and a dependable vehicle are required.
Must be able to pass required fingerprinting and background checks for employment in a school environment.
Must be able to stand for extended periods and perform the physical duties required in a commercial kitchen.
Food Handler or Food Manager certification is preferred, or the willingness to obtain required certification.
Schedule & Benefits of the Position
This is a Monday through Friday position from 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM. The schedule offers consistent daytime hours with evenings, weekends, and most major holidays off.
